One day course As
sea kayakers the VHF radio is arguably our most important communication
device. This one day course aims to quickly and comprehensively
complete all the requirements for the Global Maritime Distress and
Safety System (GMDSS) Short Range Radio Certificate (SCR), with the
qualification being awarded by trainer assesment.
Note - The SRC has replaced the VHF Operator's Certificate and is now
the minimum radio qualification examined in the UK. Existing holders of
the VHF radio operator certificates are still legal to operate, but
must update to SRC if they operate GMDSS equiptment.
